  1. Alabama Shakespeare Festival - Montgomery, Alabama

    This is a must visit for all fans of the bard. It is the 6th largest Shakespeare festival in the world. The ASF runs year-round productions with more than 400 performances scheduled each year. Works of Moliére, George Bernard Shaw, Anton Chekhov, Tennessee Williams, Thornton Wilder, and Eugene O'Neill are also featured. There is also a Children's Theatre and SchoolFest associated with ASF where students are given matinee programs to expose them to the works of the great playwrights.

  2. Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame - Birmingham, Alabama

    Alabama Jazz Hall of Fame is in the Civil Rights District in Birmingham, quite near the Birmingham Civil Rights Museum. Featuring an art-deco style, the Hall of Fame was originally founded in 1978 to honor the long tradition of Jazz in Alabama. A museum honoring all of the greats of Jazz with ties to the state was added in 1993.

    This 2,200 square-feet museum houses a collection of memorabilia and items that once belonged to Jazz greats like Nat King Cole, Duke Ellington, Lionel Hampton, and Erskine Hawkins. In addition to the museum, the Jazz Hall of Fame also offers numerous jazz performances.

    On Saturday afternoons, the Hall of Fame also offers swing dance classes, while on other occasions locals and visitors can enjoy comedy nights that feature some of the most talented comedians in the local area.

    The museum is open on Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 am to 5 pm. Guided tours are available only on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm.

  3. Hank Williams Museum - Montgomery, Alabama

    The Museum for this country music legend was opened in 1999. The Museum houses a collection of Hank Williams' Memorabilia with over 35 showcases filled with his personal artifacts. There is a life-size statue of Hank Williams in Lister Hill Park in downtown Montgomery.

  4. The Lily Pond Art Gallery & Tea Room, Jasper

    This is a unique gallery filled with various art and craft pieces by local and regional Alabama artists. A great place to buy gifts on your vacation. It is open Monday - Friday 9:00 - 5:00 and Saturday 9:00 - 2:00.

    They offer "Take What You Make" classes and parties in their quaint Tea Room.
