  1. Dauphin Island Sea Lab - Dauphin Island, Alabama

    The Dauphin Island Sea Lab is devoted to educating the public, doing marine science research and coastal zone management policy. Dauphin Island Sea Lab is also an active weather station.

    Here, there are exhibits that are both educational as well as entertaining. There are "Touch Tanks" to give hands-on experience with aquatic animals. There are specimens to explore and touch. There is the Living Marsh Boardwalk which is on the north side of the parking lot that goes through a salt marsh. There is also "Mr. Sand" which will help children learn about the formation of a grain of sand.

    Inside the Estuarium, as you enter The Billy Goat Hole Gallery, there is a replica of an old French sailing vessel called the Discovery Ship, full of treasures for children to explore. There are interactive hands-on activities for everyone.

  2. U.S. Space & Rocket Center - Huntsville, Alabama

    The U.S. Space & Rocket Center, located in Huntsville, Alabama, is one of the premier space museums in the world. The largest collection of space memorabilia and rockets in the world is housed here.

    While the center has a variety of educational programs, resources and exhibits, the USSRC is also home to a variety of exciting space rides including Space Shot, Mars Mission, The Apollo Cockpit Trainer, Lunar Lander and The G-Force Accelerator. Space Shot where you can experience what a rocket launch really feels like by shooting 140 feet straight up into the air in as little as 2.5 seconds at 4 G's of force. Mars Mission, a specially designed craft ride that will give a feel of hovering right over the famous red planet. The Apollo Cockpit Trainer invites visitors to perform actual tasks using a robotic arm. The G-Force Accelerator ride features 3 G's and continually increases speed until your body actually rises up in the seat.

    Children can explore the Space Station in the Kids Cosmos Energy Depletion Zone. Complete the trip with popcorn-and-soda at the IMAX theater.
